These are random cosplay tips helpful for both cosplay beginners and experienced cosplayers.
HOW TO PIN YOUR WIG
The best way to pin your wig is to put a bobby pin in front of your ear, behind your ear on both sides and if you have hair braided up in the back of your wig you can put two pins on the back . This is a secure way of pinning your wigs.
COSPLAY MAKEUP TIPS
Your wig really affects how dramatic your makeup looks. So, when you are doing your makeup don't be afraid to go over the top or what seems like over the top because cosplay makeup and everyday makeup are very different. For everyday makeup you want things to be more toned down and so when you are doing the transition from everyday makeup to cosplay makeup sometimes you might be experimenting with various colors or doing more dramatic eyeliner and you think it is over the top.
Never be afraid to go over the top with your cosplay makeup because your wig is always going to tone it down as soon as you put it on. This works like a charm every time!
Don't be afraid to go over the top with your makeup and if you are doing your makeup and it seems like it is a little bit too much just remember that your wig is going to tone it down and it will probably look absolutely fine.
BE VERY LIBERAL WITH YOUR SELFIE-TAKING
Be very liberal with your selfie taking when you are trying on a new cosplay. Whenever you are trying on a new look or a new cosplay it's important to get used to how that look looks on you. Trying on a new hair color or a new method of doing your makeup is really going to change the way you look and that takes some getting used to. While you may be comfortable posing just with your natural face and you know what your good angles are, while you try on a new cosplay that isn't always the case. It takes some getting used to to figure out what are your better angles and what facial expressions look best with a particular cosplay.
To get used to that I recommend doing a "costest"(cosplay test). This is where you take your cosplay and put everything on as if you are going to a convention or a photo shoot and you set yourself up with your phone and take a bunch of selfies in your cosplay look. This gives you the opportunity to experiment with your makeup and your wig so that when you get to a convention you don't have any disasters with your makeup because you are trying things for the first time. You can try out certain makeup techniques and wig styling techniques for the first time and see if you like it with that character and also model the cosplay and have a sense of how you look.
It is really important to take selfies because that gives you the opportunity to figure out what angles look best on you and what facial expressions look best on you in that particular look. This is going to help your confidence so much when you go to an actual convention or photo shoot and you wear that cosplay you are going to have a much better idea of how you look.
It is really good to give yourself a chance to get used to various different looks and to get used to posing in those looks by taking a bunch of selfies.

Sometimes you find the perfect cosplay shoes but they are not in your size. In the event that the shoe is a half size too big you can actually use insoles to make them smaller and thus fit you better. Insoles are really cheap and easy to find. You can find them at any dollar store. This is a really cheap and easy way to make a shoe that otherwise wouldn't fit you fit you and therefore you are going to have a much better experience wearing it to a convention.
